A French designer and illustrator, Berthold Mahn began at age sixteen to support himself financially. His first job was working in a factory with furnaces and stoves. He pursued his art talent by enrolling at the School of Applied Arts Duperre in Paris. During military service, he met Albert Gleizes, French painter, printmaker and philosopher, who encouraged Mahn to pursue and art career. Through Gleizes, Mahn came in contact with a community of artists who remained his friends and support (showing 500 of 1183 characters). |
