As a child, like most artists, I was always interested in learning to make beautiful art. However, as the old saying goes, "life got in the way". I married a wonderful man right out of high school and promptly had three children. I then devoted all my time to our family and household. In 1986, when my children were all either in college or high school, I then decided it was my time to begin this wonderful challenge of learning to paint.

I enrolled in art classes, subscribed to art magazines, bought books, entered exhibits, visited galleries and museums and took workshops and seminars on any and everything art related. I also met other artists through volunteer work with art organizations and later by working in the local art museum. I benefited so much doing all this and know that however long I live, I'll never have enough time to learn all I would like. Given a choice, I don't think artists ever retire...I hope not to anyway.

After about five years of trying every medium in the two-dimensional fine arts, I settled on abstraction as a primary mode of expression. Currently, acrylic and mixed media collages are the media of choice. I don't expect these choices to remain static since to do so would stagnant my work. Exploration and the creative processes are so important and I expect to continue this roller coaster journey I began so long ago as long as possible.

Along the way, I taught myself how to use the computer. I learned to design my own web site and I've met so many interesting, wonderful people from all over the world through my use of the internet and networking. I believe the Internet is an important venue for artists. How else could someone from a small town in northeast Texas, USA have ever been able to meet and exhibit with other artists from all over the world?
