This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A versatile artist and prominent illustrator, Christopher Magadini's work reflects his love of the Northeast and the Southwest. Born in Great Barrington, MA, in 1946, and raised in Palm Springs, Los Angeles and Phoenix, Mr. Magadini studied illustration at The Art Center College of Design in L.A., where he earned his Bachelors of Fine Arts in 1970. After free-lancing as an illustrator in Stockholm, Sweden, he returned to Phoenix, where he continued working in illustration.

In 1975, Mr. Magadini moved to Flagstaff, AZ, to teach illustration, drawing and painting at Northern Arizona State University. In 1978, he received a full fellowship to Syracuse University and came east to earn a Masters of Fine Arts degree. After that, he moved to the New York metropolitan area to further his career as a freelance illustrator. He secured work from Field & Stream, then quickly became sought after by such magazines as Reader's Digest, for which he's done covers, Audubon, Flying, Boating, Home Mechanix, Popular Science, Guideposts, Angel's and The Wine Enthusiast. He has created illustrations for numerous books including those published by Reader's Digest Selection Editions, Scholastic Books and Zebra Books.

In 1984, he was commissioned to design stamps depicting veterinary medicine for the United Nations. For Woman's Day magazine, he created a series of collectible bird posters. Having designed several successful collectors' plates, he was invited by Royal Copenhagen, Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark, to be its 1996 guest artist at the prestigious 22nd-Annual International Collectible Exposition in Rosemont, II.

Mr. Magadini has taught drawing and design at Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY, and has been a guest lecturer at the School of Visual Arts and at the Fashion Institute of Technology, both in Manhattan. Currently, Mr. Magadini is concentrating on plein aire and studio landscape paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor. He currently resides in Armonk, NY, and spends his summers in Saranac Lake, NY.
