Biography from Blackhawk Gallery:
The following is from the artist.

I was raised on a ranch near the southeastern border of Wyoming and began drawing at an early age. Like most kids, I started with crayons and eventually progressed to charcoal and pastels. As a teenager I bought my first set of acrylic paints and loved the challenge of mixing an infinite number colors. Soon I discovered the unique qualities of oil paints and have used them almost exclusively ever since.

Sometime around the charcoal stage I began drawing Native American Indians. I was fascinated by their colorful dress and the dignity expressed in their eyes. Their faces were like stories waiting to be told. Throughout the years I have tried to tell these stories and expressed emotions. I also enjoy painting the cowboy and the horse. A man and a beast working together to achieve a desired result with long days and short nights is the real story of Americana. Once a necessary way of life, it is today, at least for man, a desired way of life.

I have had formal training including four years at LCCC in Cheyenne. By studying with other ambitious artists and attending various workshops, I continue to increase my knowledge and understanding of the medium. I also read every art book I can get my hands on and then practice, practice, practice.

I am a member of the Cheyenne Artist Guild and participate in the Artist Ride held each year near Wall, South Dakota. Through this event I have gained invaluable reference material and have met many famous and not so famous artists from around the country. I also participate in several shows each year including the Western Spirit Art Show in Cheyenne, the Wyoming State Fair Art Show in Douglas, the Governor‚s Invitational Art Show in North Platte, Nebraska, the 49er's Art Show and Sale in Death Valley, California, and many others.

I have received several awards at these shows including first place and my work has been shown on our local television station.

My paintings usually involve Native American, cowboy, and western themes and are in many private and public collections throughout the United States including the Custer Battlefield Museum in Garry Owen, Montana and the Wyoming Pioneer Memorial Museum in Douglas, Wyoming.
