This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Conny Martin has resided in Lubbock, Texas since her birth in 1925.  Upon graduation from Lubbock High School in 1943, she studied art at Colorado State College of Education (now University of Northern Colorado).

Following World War II, she married C.B. Martin who was insistent that she have her own studio.  For fifteen years, Martin taught art in her studio to children ranging in age from third grade to high school.

Many of Martin’s oils, acrylics and watercolors have been inspired by world travels with her husband to destinations such as Yugoslavia, Ecuador and Russia.  She has included daily sketches and maps documenting thirty years of travels in thirty published volumes of what she calls “travel sketch diaries.”

Martin was commissioned by First National Bank to paint a series of fourteen acrylic paintings. She titled it The World of Genghis and Kubilai Kahn. The series was displayed for 21 years, from 1969 to 1990. All fourteen paintings are now on permanent exhibit at Texas Tech’s International Cultural Center.

Furthermore, Martin has been featured in at least thirty-five solo exhibits and has been shown in fine art galleries in Ruidoso, New Mexico, Santa Fe, New Mexico and Lubbock, Texas. Her painting, Santa Rosa Window won Best of Show at Mooney Gallery’s First Annual Art Competition in San Antonio. Martin joined the Lubbock Art Association as a charter member and has served three terms as president.
