Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 10, 1890, Mary Marsh studied with Birger Sandzen, at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and Cincinnati Art Academy. She was active in Albion, Idaho before arriving in Los Angeles in the early 1920s.
While working as a curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, she wed artist Conrad Buff in 1922. Her specialty was Southwestern Indian subjects; after her marriage she gave up painting to write children's books, which her husband illustra (showing 500 of 1312 characters). |
