| Cyrinus Bolliva McClellan was born in Bolivia in 1827. McClellan arrived in San Francisco in 1850 with the Gold Rush and was active in northern California until 1870. He then moved to Nevada and had studios in Carson City and Virginia City where he was a popular portrait painter with those who had prospered from the Comstock Lode. Virginia City's fire of 1875 destroyed his studio and most of his early work, leaving few of his works extant. He died in Reno, NV on Oct (showing 500 of 734 characters). |
