David Maitland McKenzie (1800 - 1875) was a landscape painter in oil. Some mystery surrounds this artist. He was a foundation associate of the Institution for the Encouragement of the Fine Arts in 1826 where he exhibited some well executed landscapes in 1826, 1830 and again during the first four years of the Scottish Academy 1827-1830. He was elected RSA in 1829 but in 1832 he forfeited his membership, apparently due to unseemly behaviour, being one of two Academicians to be depri (showing 500 of 748 characters). |
