Biography from AskART:
| | Creating images on gourds, she gives the impression of making pottery, wood or leather work. Her images are contemporary, but she is inspired by Native American war shields, masks, robes, pottery and petroglyphs. Sometimes her one-of-a-kind pieces take up to 150 hours to create. She gathers the gourds from farms in southern and central California and works them by sanding and then applying acrylic paint, epoxy dyes and inlay. Then she does more sanding and painting. The completed pieces are finished with a sealer. |
