Earl Mayan was an American illustrator whose early career spanned the era of pulp magazines to the post-WW II years alongside Norman Rockwell at The Saturday Evening Post. Earl Mayan was born in Brooklyn in 1916. He graduated from Pratt Institute in 1936, his roommate and classmate was another famous illustrator, Edd Cartier. One of their instructors at Pratt, who was also an editor for the publisher “Street and Smith” encouraged both graduates to enter the field (showing 500 of 1549 characters). |
