Born 1914 in New York City, Edith Montlack was awarded a scholarship to the Metropolitan Art School and continued her studies at the National Academy in NY under Louis Bouche in addition to taking private studies in the US and abroad.

Her paintings have won many prizes, including the Emil Kohn Medal, the St. Gauden's Medal and the Grumbacher Award.  Miss Montlack also won the National Association of Women Artists' prize for watercolors at that organization's 50th anniversary exhibition.  She was elected a Life-Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts of London, an international society of men and women distinguished in the arts.

Miss Montlack has exhibited at the National Academy, Parrish Museum, Riverside Museum Grand Central Art Club Gallery, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Hall of Art, Norval Gallery, Crespi Gallery and the Hammond Museum.  In addition, many other private exhibitions of her art have been held in NY, Chicago, Cleveland, Washington D.C. and elsewhere.

Reproductions of her work, as well as originals are to be found in all parts of the USA and Europe in numerous private collections and in the photographic file of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  Her prize-winning paintings have been published and reproduced by Catalda Fine Arts Publishing Company of NY and Donald Art Company, Inc., the leading reproducers of paintings in this country.
