| Ella Charlotte Moen was born in Botineau, ND on March 18, 1901. After graduating from the University of North Dakota, Ella Moen earned an M.A. degree from Columbia University. She moved to California in 1928 to begin a 35-year career as a teacher at Fresno State Teachers College. By 1940 she had wed artist Adolf Odorfer. Upon retiring from teaching in 1963, she stopped painting. Her last years were devoted to the activities of the Retired Teachers Ass'n and Fresno Arts Center. Mrs. Odorfer died in Fresno on March 25, 1986.
