Ernest Frederick Meyer was born in Rothenberg, Germany in 1863. Meyer studied under American painters William Merritt Chase, John Henry Twachtman, James Carroll Beckwith, Frank Vincent DuMond, and Charles Henry Turner.
He lived almost his entire life in New York City, although he was known to have a primary residence in Tylerville, Connecticut in 1929. He is best known as a landscape painter.
