Biography from AskART:
| An Impressionist figure painter, Eva Makk was born in Ethiopia and moved to Honolulu with her artist husband, Americo Makk, in 1967. Her father was a diplomat, and her mother was an Hungarian baroness. She began painting at age four, studied art in Paris and graduated summa cum laude from the Rome Academy of Fine Arts where she met her husband.
Together they were official government artists in Brazil, and they painted huge murals. At one time, on a painting expedition, they spent thirteen months in the Amazon jungle.
In 1962, they moved to New York where they exhibited their work and painted church murals. They developed a love for the American West, and spent much time in Texas where she became especially focused on the women and children. |
