| | Felix Lewis Martini was born in Milan, Italy on April 4, 1893. The Martini family immigrated to America in 1895. Felix grew up in Vermont and at an early age was employed as a wood carver, a trade he learned from his father. In the early 1920s he moved to California, first to San Francisco and then to Los Angeles where he studied portraiture with Will Foster and landscape painting with Sam Hyde Harris. His commercial work included poster and label graphics for Western Lithograph Company as well as the 1940 Christmas Seal design. In his leisure he painted landscapes of southern California.
