| Frances McKinley began her art studies in 1924 with a class from Cyde Clack at East Central State Teachers College in Oklahoma. After a move to Dallas, Frances pursued a career in commercial art. She drew fashion advertisements for the A. Harris Company.
Frances McKinley taught English in the Dallas Public Schools for over 30 years. She continued to paint during her summer vacations and in 1929 entered a painting in the Allied Arts Exhibition.
Frances in the sister of Catherine McKinley Smith and Mary Thompson who were also painters.
