This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A magazine and book illustrator and reporter-artist with impressionist style and bold coloration, Frank Mullins covered a variety of subjects including sports, oceanography, and fiction. He was a member of the Society of Illustrators and contributed work to "Sports Illustrated", "Saturday Evening Post", "Redbook" and the American Heritage series, "The Book of Knowledge".

Mullins was born September 27, 1924 in Springfield, Massachusetts and graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield. In June, 1943, he was drafted into the army and sailed to England with the 83rd Armored Field Artillery Battalion. He was involved in five campaigns: Normandy, Northern, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe.

In 1945, he was discharged. Returning to Springfield, he attended American International College. Because of his interest during this time in drawing and painting, he transferred to Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, where he majored in Art. Frank also received a Fine Arts and Fine Arts Education at Teachers College in Columbia University.
