This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The primary motivation of Franke Mayo in her painting, sculpture and photograpy is to share the mystery of art, stimulate wonder, and lead the viewer to enter her world of imagination. Her vision is one of curiosity, hope and joy. She intends her work to be an expression of subconscious/conscious awareness and personal transformation, merging inner and outer worlds. For her, these illuminating insights reflect the soul and nourish the spirit. They evolve from her meditative experiences and lucid dream states. She incorporates experimentation and discovery techniques in mixed media resulting in a style symbolic and surreal.

Mayo has been a yoga student and teacher for thirty years. She attributes these studies and meditation to her achievements.

She attended John McCrady Art College in New Orleans, LA majoring in Fine Art and Commercial Art; Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Biloxi, MS; University of Southern Mississippi, Gautier, MS and Merritt College in Oakland, CA.

She has attended various workshops with artists including Marie Hull, George Cherepov, and Maxine Masterfield, etc. Two artists, Judith Cornell and Maxine Masterfield, greatly influenced the discovery of her own stylized process.
