Gertrude Wiebe Mihsfeldt was born in Danzig, Germany on Feb. 1, 1903. Gertrude Wiebe studied at the University of Utah and obtained an M.A. degree from UC Berkeley in 1929. She soon married August Mihsfeldt and settled in Sacramento. She taught in the public schools there and was active in the local art scene before her demise on Sept. 29, 1989.
