Grace Simpson Martin was born at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 3, l867, a daughter of James Steen and Eliza Simpson Martin.  She taught art in her home near Rittenhouse Square with her brother J. Renwick Martin and sisters Margaret and Jean.  Her family  possesses examples of her oil on canvas, oil on porcelain, graphite and china decorations. 

Grace died at Philadelphia o Nov. 25 l943  at the age of 76 and is buried in the James Steen Martin plot at North Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
