| Henry Peter McDermott was born in California on July 30, 1897. By the 1930s McDermott had settled in Los Angeles. He worked there for 60 years in the art departments of 20th Century Fox and MGM Studios. Upon retirement in 1972, he moved to San Diego where he remained until his demise on June 8, 1992.
