James C. Magee studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, while living at several locations in that city, suggesting that he was rather active in Philadelphia more so than in New York City. He also studied with William Merritt Chase in New York and with Ash Can School painter Robert Henri in Paris, although both Chase and Henri were known to teach summer schools, implying short period of study.
He was awarded the silver medal award from the AAS (The American Art (showing 500 of 949 characters). |
