This biography from the Archives of AskART:
James Lindsay McCreery was born in Berkeley, CA on April 16, 1901. During the 1930s McCreery worked for the WPA. In 1934 he was a resident of his native city, but by 1940 he had settled in Brooklyn, NY. He died there on May 6, 1970.

Exh: Brooklyn Museum, 1934; 48 States Competition, 1939.

Works held in Public Places: Monett (MO) Post Office; Brooklyn Museum.
