This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following information is from Robert Sondey, who wrote that it "was found on reverse of a painting that I own by artist Jane Bertram Miluski."

Jane Bertram Miluski, PWCS, PWS, of Wallingford, PA, most often paints in watercolor, depicting her favorite subjects of wilderness landscape, old buildings and flowers.  Her favored landscape subjects are linked by water:  rivers, lakes, marshes and the sea.  She enjoys experimenting with monoprints in acrylic inks, sometimes combined with collage.  This is a playful, joyful way to work.  Jane finds that the results tend to suggest the magic in natural forms.  Other newer directions for the artist are clay printing and painting in watercolor with no drawing on the paper, approaches which are linked by surprises and spontaneity.

With a degree of Chemistry from Brown University, the artist began to work on her art in 1976, following the birth of her fifth child.  After some study at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, she discovered and explored the magic of watercolor with West Chester artist Judy Antonelli.  Later she traveled to study with Tony Couch of Stone Mountain, GA; Don Andrews, AWS of Exeter, VT; and most notably, wilderness artist Nita Engle, AWS of Marquette, MI.  Jane has also studied with Frank Webb, Howard Watson, Maxine Masterfield and Jean Uhl Spicer, all AWS and Frank Francese, NWS.  In August of 1999 she took part in a wilderness master class with Engle in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, a very important experience for Jane.

Water is a recurring theme in her paintings.  In recent years the coastlines of Nova Scotia, Maine and Lake Superior have been her favorite painting destinations.  In June 1993 Jane was elected the first woman president of the Philadelphia Water Color Society, a national organization of 700 members, founded in 1900.  Her work was featured in an article in American Artist Magazine's "Watercolor '93" and in the book Creative Watercolor in 1996.  Jane serves on the board at the Community Arts Center in Wallingford, where she organizes an annual intensive workshop and teaches classes in watercolor.  After 19 years Jane retired from her position teaching music and dance at the School in Rose Valley, a private elementary school committed to the teachings of John Dewey.  She also teaches watercolor classes at the Wayne Art Center.

Her memberships include: Philadelphia Water Color Club (President), PA Watercolor Society (Signature), American Watercolor Society (Associate), Midwest Watercolor Society (Associate), and Artists Guild of Delaware County.  She has had solo exhibitions at the Darlington Fine Arts Center (1989-2000), The Studio in Swarthmore and Swarthmore College.  Juried shows at Philadelphia Water Color Club, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Historic Yellow Springs, Watercolor: Long Beach Island, Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts and Catherine Lorrillard Wolfe, NYC.
