JEANNETTE McMULLIN
Jeannette McMullin was born in Watertown, New York, west of the Adirondack Mountains. She enrolled at the Cooper Union in New York, which had been founded in 1857 for the advancement of art education (see McCausland, 1947). It was a free school, designed to attract talented artists -- many of them women -- who could not meet the tuition elsewhere.
