| John A. Metzger was born in Pennsylvania on Dec. 22, 1872. By 1929 Dr. Metzger had settled in Long Beach. A physician, he painted in his leisure and was active in the local art scene. An oil of Mission San Juan Capistrano is extant. He died in Long Beach on May 9, 1945.
