John Markwood was born in Cumberland, Maryland and lived most of his
adult life in Southern California. He painted exclusively with
oil paints, usually on canvas, but occasionally he painted on masonite
board.
Most of his paintings depict forest and landscape subjects and were
executed using a Pointillism technique. This approach required
Markwood to hand stipple many thousands of dots of paint next to each
other. When viewed up close, the paintings appear as (showing 500 of 981 characters). |
