This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| A writer and illustrator, Robert McCloskey was known for children's books, especially "Make Way for Ducklings" and "Blueberries for Sal". He wrote and illustrated only eight books, but their reputation was strong enough that his national reputation was insured. Of his work, he said: "I'm not prolific. I have to wait until it bubbles out."
He won two Caldecott Medals: "Make Way for Ducklings" in 1941 and "Time of Wonder" in 1957.
