Joseph Manning was bitten by the art bug as a child in Illinois. Specifically, he was hooked by chewing-tobacco ads featuring a painted character with eyes that seemed to follow his every step. The determined young artist ultimately launched a career in commercial art, but in 1963, after 18 years in the profession, he quit to paint full time. In short order, he found himself winning competitions and selling paintings.
Today, the Plantation, Florida, artist claims signature me (showing 500 of 2135 characters). |
