Joseph Patrick McMeekin was born in Dublin, Ireland on April 6, 1857. McMeekin learned to paint in his native land from an itinerant English artist. He came to America with his family in 1872, settling in Utah. Later, Idaho was to become his home and preferred painting locale. In 1910 he moved to Napa, CA where he painted until the end of his life.
He maintined a small cottage and studio in Coombsville and often made painting excursions to Yosemite. After 1916 his bucolic landscapes (showing 500 of 976 characters). |
