| Born Durkheim, Germany, Mar. 22, 1892; died Des Moines, IA, Jan. 18, 1969. Painter, specialized in watercolor. Teacher. He came to the U.S. when he was 13. Moved to Kansas in 1908. Studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and at the Art Students League. Pupil of George Bellows. His career as an artist and teacher began in 1922 when he taught at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and at the Denver (CO) Academy from 1923-24. He taught at University of Kansas, Lawrence in the painting department (showing 500 of 1760 characters). |
