| Kate Heath Maher was born in San Francisco, CA on Sept. 8, 1859 of English parents. Maher studied for four years at the local School of Design under Virgil Williams and Raymond Yelland, and for two years with Wm Keith. After extensive travel in Europe, she was influenced by the French Impressionists. Maher painted many oils and watercolors of European scenes and landscapes of northern California. A spinster and lifelong resident of San Francisco, she died at her home at 11 Fair Oaks on Aug. 15, (showing 500 of 942 characters). |
