This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Boston, Kenneth MacIntire studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Architectural Club School of Design.  He was in World War I, assigned to a unit which specialized in Dazzle Art, a camouflage system for ships.  After the war, he opened a studio in Washington D.C.  His work was featured on the cover of House Beautiful magazine.

In the 1930s, he moved to California and painted celebrity portraits as well as several famous horses.  In 1961, he and his wife moved to Northern California on the Sonoma Coast.  He sold none of his work during his lifetime and never painted after his wife's death in 1970.  Shortly before his death, the Sonoma League for Historical Preservation had a special exhibit of his work.

The following is submitted by Samuel Robbins who has done research on Kenneth MacIntyre:

He also studied at the Fenway School of Illustration and the New School of Design.  To finance his art schooling, he ran a mail boat for the Postal Service, delivering mail to the various Islands in Maine waters.  He also got his first taste of the West when he went on a painting trip to the Colorado Rockies in 1922.

After serving in the army in World War I, he opened a studio in Washington D.C.

His work was featured on a House Beautiful magazine cover in 1920. While there he was commissioned to paint a portrait of a beloved family horse. Word spread and he was commissioned to do the same in California. Thus he moved there in 1930, first to Palm Springs, but eventually settling in Hollywood Hills.  Polo playing was at the height of its popularity.  His oils and watercolors captured the drama of the game and the action of the players.

In recognition of this work The Sonoma League for Historical Preservation held an exhibition of his paintings in 1970

His wife Judith also was an artist, specializing in large watercolor and gouache still-lives of vegetables, sometimes painted on sheets of cork which amplified an impressionist effect, suitable for large Hollywood kitchens.
