| | Lela Marie McClelland was born in Tingley, IA on June 21, 1888. McClelland settled in Upland, CA in 1903. She first studied art with Charlotte Reed at Chaffey High School in nearby Ontario followed by study at Pomona College, UC, and UCLA. She then taught crafts, drawing, and painting at Chaffey High School and Chaffey Jr. College. McClelland died in Upland on Aug. 5, 1973. | Source:
