| | Leon Maximilien Joseph Mazy was born in Malonne, Belgium on Dec. 30, 1860. Mazy immigrated to Los Angeles in 1898. With his brother Emil, he operated the Westlake Art Studio. Primarily an interior decorator and muralist, he invented a process to make cameo-like sculptures with cast cement panels.
