Born in New Jersey, Lethea Minnick became known for portrait, still lifes, landscapes, and nude figures. She studied art at the Academy in Troy, New York, and then she taught art there as well as the Girls Academy in Connecticut and Hutchison Seminary in Wyoming, Pennsylvania.
In the 1930s, she was a portrait painter for movie celebrities in Hollywood, and during that time was known as Lethea Hamilton. She later married a Mr. Minnick and was a long-time resident of Hemet.
