Biography from AskART:
| Born in Turate, a village in northern Italy, he fled the pending World War I and emigrated to the United States. He made a living as a house painter until he fell off some scaffolding in 1937. During his convalescence, he began making art and remained self-taught. His work has been called "delightfully clumsy," a treatment of weighty subject matter, such as the attack on Pearl Harbor, in a colorful and naive style.
He painted in Jerome and the Navajo Reservations of Arizona.
