Louise B Mansfield was born in Le Roy, New York and became a sucessful illustrator and fine-art painter. Some of her published works appear to be executed around the turn of the century and are typical of the "Harpers'" magazine style of that era with large format and grey and black tones. She also did illustrations for "House and Garden" magazine.
Mansfield was equally skillful with figure and landscape painting. Her work is often signed Mansfield LB in monogram form.
