| Louise Elizabeth Garden MacLeod was born in London, England on April 25, 1857. Louise Garden began her art studies at an early age. While in her teens she studied at London's Royal School under N. G. Green who was instructor to the royal family. After further study under Whistler in Paris and a three-year period of teaching in the London Art School, her health required a milder climate. In 1887 she arrived in Los Angeles where she and Mrs. J. Dalton Bond founded the School of Art & Design (showing 500 of 1227 characters). |
