| Born in California on Sept. 3, 1890. Matson was a pupil at the San Francisco Institute of Art in 1910-11. In 1914 she wed William Roth and in 1937, the family (now including William Matson Roth born September 1916, and identical twins Lurline and Berenice, born 1921) settled into a palatial home in San Mateo called Filoli.
