Born in Missouri on July 30, 1842. Margaret Moore made the overland trek to San Francisco with her parents in 1852. With no sidewalks and filled with mud and fleas, the town was at its rawest. The family lived in a tent until a house could be built.
In the early 1860s she studied painting locally with Samuel Brookes, and in the 1870s continued with Albert Bierstadt.
In 1878 she married Martin Lauden, and, when not busy as a housewife, painted in her leisure.  (showing 500 of 957 characters). |
