The following is from Peter Kostoulakos, AOA, NEAA:  Fine Art Consultant,

Margaret Young Murray

Margaret Young Murray — artist and teacher known to be working in the late1890s and early to mid 1900s— was born in 1875 and died in1962.  Murray studied art in New York City under Kenyon Cox (1856-1919) and John White Alexander (1856-1915); Boston, MA; and in Paris at the Académie Julian.

She is best remembered for her many informal sketches of immigrants as they waited to register at Ellis Island, NY.  Her sketches display the naturalistic realism of a tired, frustrated group at a crowded registration center, yet each drawing portrays a unique individual's special character. Sitting, leaning, sleeping, wide-awake: each drawing tells a proud story of a new arrivals first claim to America.

The only information attainable from the internet was from a past Boris Wilnitsky Fine Art auction that listed a 'watercolour' painting titled "Out Sledding". Wilnitsky is located at Schulerstrasse 7, A-1010 Vienna, Austria; general questions: office
