This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Richmond, Virginia in 1869, Marietta Andrews was a painter, an author and illustrator of books, including three for E.P. Dutton and Company. In 1928, she produced the books My Studio Window; in 1929, Scraps of Paper; and in 1930, George Washington's Country.

Andrews was also involved in the creation of stained glass windows, receiving commissions from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville; George Washington University, Washington, D.C.; American Society for Psychical Research, New York City; and St. Paul's Church, Steubenville, Ohio.

Her art education included teachers William Merritt Chase in New York City; Ernest Lieberman in Munich, Germany; and Luigi Chialiva in Paris, France.  She later married her teacher at the Corcoran School of Art, in Washington, D.C., Eliphalet Fraser Andrews.

Andrews is one of the artists in the book, The Capitol Image: Painters in Washington, 1800-1915, by Andrew J. Cosentino and Henry H. Glassie, published in 1983 by Smithsonian Institution Press.

Marietta Minnigerode Andrews died in 1931.  Her obituary appeared in Volume 28 of the American Art Annual, published in 1932 by the American Federation of Arts.
