| Marina Moevs’ metaphysical landscapes are mostly invented, and the imagery is selected and assembled for its metaphoric potential. Many of the paintings depict a natural disaster, a reference to the current environmental crisis. The metaphor of the natural disaster also has a metaphysical dimension: it describes a key transition in the experience of identity.
Teaching assignments include the University of Southern California School of Fine Arts (1996-2000), and Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles (2000- present). She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College (A.B. 1977) and Brooklyn College (MFA, 1985).
