Biography from Butler Institute of American Art:
| Mary Beth McKenzie was born in Cleveland and studied art at the Art Students League, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Cooper School in Cleveland and the National Academy of Design.
She teaches both at the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design. She has been published by Watson-Guptill with her book "A Painterly Approach".
She is represented in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian and numerous private collections.
She always works directly from life : "When I paint someone, I am less concerned with likeness than with character or spirit of that person." |
