Mathilde Mueden Leisenring (c.1870-1949)

A painter and educator, she was most celebrated for her portraits.  She also painted landscapes, still lives and travel scenes.

She was one of the founding members of the Arts Club of Washington, DC  in 1916.  The Arts Club is planning a retrospective of her work including landscapes, still lives, travel scenes and the portraits for which she was most celebrated.  In addition, recent acquisitions donated from a relative will be included in the exhibition.  The exhibition will be open to the public and up for the entire month of September, 2011.
