This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Max Mason whose studio is in Gladwynne, Pennsylvania, found his artist calling when he took a figure drawing course while studying geology at Vassar. After receiving his degree in geology, he went to study at the Museum School in Boston and with Neil Welliver at the University of Pennsylvania. Mason earned an MFA in painting and printmaking from the University of Pennsylvania where he now lectures.

Mason has completed murals for the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, the City of Harrisburg, the State of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia Phillies. His murals are installed in many public places in Pennsylvania including the Pennsylvania State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg and Citizens Bank Park. His smaller works are in private and public collections including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Butler Institute in Youngstown, Ohio.
