This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| California artist, Michael Markowitz, has been drawing and teaching since the early 1990s. His approach to the creative process is "... opening up to the moment so it has the power to transform you. The whole value of art is to learn and engage in the process."
Markowitz enjoys drawing because it is direct and immediate. He feels that with drawing the tools and the medium the artist is using does not interfere with the subject. He typically completes a drawing in ten to 20 minutes, spending usually an hour on portraits.
Markowitz teaches and draws from his studio in San Francisco's Noe Valley.
