| Using both oil and graphite and depicting figure, and landscape as well as her favorite, still life, Nita Moore is a Brooklyn-based artist who finds much pleasure in drawing, which she regards as "the foundation for everything else."
Moore is a native of Columbia, South Carolina, and studied art and Italian at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She spent her junior year in Florence, Italy, and then moved to San Francisco before coming to New York in 1998 to study with Jacob Collins at the Water Street Atelier in Brooklyn.
She is especially inspired by Rembrandt, Caravaggio, and Vermeer. |
