This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Pennsylvania on April 11, 1864, Paul Moran was raised in an artistic atmosphere.  He was taught to paint by his father, Thomas Moran, when quite young. He accompanied his famous father on sketching trips to the Southwest in 1879 and 1892.

After further art training in Paris, the younger Moran settled in Los Angeles about 1898 and stayed for his remaining years.  He was also an accomplished musician (violin, guitar, mandolin) and divided his energies throughout his lifetime between music and painting.

Primarily a portrait painter, due to failing eyesight he gave up portraiture in his later years and painted landscapes which were handled locally by Kanst Gallery.

He died destitute in Los Angeles on May 26, 1907.
